The Majestic DorSEt Woodlands in Spring

Spring is without a doubt one of the best times of year to visit the iconic county of Dorset in England. Famous for its iconic Jurassic Coastline, there are beautiful viewpoints and iconic local landmarks all over, but the real magic during Spring happens in the ancient woodlands. Hidden away in its ancient forests, you will find bluebells and wild garlic, clean beech tree forests and tree-lined avenues, the photographic opportunities are really endless. Jack's years of experience and local knowledge will allow us to adjust locations depending on weather, taking us to the best spots for the matching conditions on each day.

Jack Lodge

Landscape and nature photographer Jack Lodge was born in Dorset, and his great passion is capturing the change of seasons in an atmospheric and ethereal way.

Jack is a professional landscape photographer who grew up in Wimborne, the county of Dorset in the South West England, UK. Through his landscape photography, Jack strives to capture the change of each season, documenting the ever changing landscape in a magical and ethereal way.

His journey in photography began back in 2017 when he discovered travel and street photography while studying architecture. Since then, his passion for landscape photography has taken him all over the country with his camera. In 2022, he decided to give up his profession in the architecture profession and become a full-time professional photographer.

Landscape photography is Jack’s way of being able to capture moments in time, landscapes  which tell a story that will last forever. Jack loves to edit his photos and produce beautiful prints. Start to take photos you want to hang on your wall

We believe that if you want to improve your photography you need to be in the right mindset.  We will show you how we take less photos but end up with more keepers and photos to hang on the wall

We will talk you through the 4 key elements to producing great image.

  • Composition

  • Light

  • Subject

  • Timing

As we wonder through the landscape we will also chat to you about the technical aspects of photography.  Understanding your camera and settings but keeping it simple. we will help with this throughout the day on the technical aspects depending you your requirements.  Typical areas that I work with are the exposure triangle of f-stop, ISO and shutter speed.

We also can help with appropriate use of filters.  We think that getting the image correct in camera at the time of shoot is a good practice and helps you spend less time sat at a computer and more time out in the fresh air improving your photography.

Once we have taken the photos we can review the photos together and understand how to get the most out of the image through post processing.
